Initial Position - The Math Exercise

This SysCW Initial Position was emailed to subscribers on the day the transactions were executed.  In order to know what to do in the future, it is important to understand what we did in the past.

The Email Comments:

HEPH was for the 100k Portfolio as is this new position. This one will be matched up with the existing holding as an advanced Dollar Cost Averaging strategy. The existing holding has a Feb $22.50 call, which the writer will continue to roll until 2008. Then the 200 shares will be traded as a single position.

The Covered Writer

Additional Comments:  As a stand alone position, this is good.  The interesting thought behind this new CYBX position is found in the idea of comparing what was generated with this 100 shares of CYBX by writer a long-term call, versus what will be generated with the older position in the 100k Portfolio. Then comes into play the idea of combining these two positions as part of the Dollar Cost Averaging strategy.  One thing with the shorter term call options is found in the advantage of having more than 100 shares to lessen the effect of commissions and fees. For some firms this advantage is more significant than for others.

As far as the stock . . . if it was worth buying at $40 . . . it's a steal at $20!
