STOCK SELECTION

One of the key factors used is selecting a stock is it's price chart.  There are many 'free' charts available on the internet.  For example here is a link to one of SysCW favorite charts. (Use your browser's BACK Page feature to return to this location.)  Free Charts  If you would like help setting up the chart and a brief explanation of what to look for click Set Up.  As you can see, this one visual aid will provide you with information on EARNINGS, STOCK SPLITS, DIVIDENDS and PRICE TRENDS.

You also would like to know what the Company does.  This information can also be found at a number of free web locations.  A great link for the company profile along with significant additional information can be found by selecting this Profile link.  Under the banner ads you will see a line that reads Profile: and then to the right is a window to enter the ticker symbol for the stock. Once you enter a symbol and click the arrow to the right, the 'Company Information' will be found on the right hand side of the page under the name and address of the Company.  The key here is do you like what the company does?  This is also a good way to make sure you are diversified.

This same page provides links to Analyst opinions, Insider trading, News and the Option Chain.  Notice the line of links in blue lettering that are above the banner ads.  If you click the STOCKS link you can find stock that have been upgraded.  Keep in mind that stocks that are upgraded would be a better choice than ones that are downgraded.  Unfortunately, also remember that nobody knows. (Including the analysts.)  It's just another piece of information that you want to check on.  In fact, this would be a good place to initially 'find' a possible stock.

Another link on the same line is INDUSTRIES.   Once you select this link, you can view all of the industries (sectors) by selecting the Show All Industries, which you will find on the left hand side of the Industry window.  Once selected you will view a list of sectors in alphabetical order.  When you pick a sector, you will be provided with a list of Best Performing Stocks for a given time period.  At the end of the list you can actually click a link to view all to the stocks in that industry.  This will provide you with more choices than you could possibly need.  All of this information is free.

If you spend 15 minutes a day  and use the Stock Check list to save your information, you could build a list of possible stocks in very little time.  Now let's view some examples.
